Welcome To Juno House

Kristin is a Canadian Certified Counsellor and Registered Art Therapist and has been working as a therapist with children, teens and families since 2000.  Kristin’s primary area of focus is pediatric and adolescent mental health.  Over the years she has worked across a variety of settings including inpatient and outpatient hospital treatment programs, domestic violence, youth addictions, experiential education and expressive arts.  As a therapist and facilitator, this range of experience has allowed Kristin to cultivate her own unique style that is both professional and relaxed, creative and collaborative. Her interest in specializing with girls and young women led her to Juno House, where she has been working as a full-time member of the therapy team since 2012.

Kristin’s official credentials include: a BA in Psychology from the University of Victoria and an MA in Art Therapy from Concordia University. She also studied as a Painting Major at the Alberta College of Art and Design.  Kristin’s clinical practice is deeply rooted in the Juno House treatment model.  Highly relational and family focussed, she works from a brain-based model that combines outcomes in psychodynamic psychotherapy, attachment theory and current research in brain development and affective neuroscience.  Kristin is also trained in EMDR, EFFT (Emotion-Focused Family Therapy), and incorporates a variety of expressive arts techniques in her work with young women.

Kristin believes that authentic human connection, emotional expression and creativity are the keys to transforming depression, anxiety, self-harm, obsessive behaviours and disordered eating.  Kristin is honoured to be part of the team at Juno House and is dedicated to building a world where girls and young women can claim and fully inhabit a unique and empowered identity for themselves.
